Meet Taylour Jones: Therapist, Founder & Advocate for Meaningful Change

Hi, I’m Taylour Jones.

I’m a licensed therapist, EMDR-trained clinician, and founder of The Counseling Studio.

Too often, therapy can feel overly clinical, intimidating, or disconnected from everyday life. I created The Counseling Studio to offer something different: a space built on authentic connection, real conversations, and meaningful change.

My journey into the mental health field has been shaped by a passion for understanding people, relationships, trauma, and the resilience we all carry through life’s challenges. Before becoming a therapist, I worked in a variety of behavioral health and clinical settings supporting adolescents, young adults, families, and individuals navigating some of life’s most difficult moments. These experiences reinforced what I believe to be true today: healing happens when people feel safe enough to be honest, supported enough to grow, and empowered enough to create meaningful change.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Rider University, where I was also a Division I collegiate basketball student-athlete. My experience as an athlete taught me the value of discipline, perseverance, teamwork, and resilience. Through athletics, I developed a deep appreciation for the connection between mental and emotional wellness, performance, identity, and personal growth.

I later earned a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Baltimore, with a specialization in Trauma-Informed Care, where I developed a deeper understanding of trauma, human behavior, and the impact that systems, environments, and life experiences can have on an individual’s well-being. I then completed my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Marymount University.

In addition to my graduate education, I am EMDR-trained and have experience working across intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization programs, school-based mental health services, community behavioral health settings, and private practice. These diverse experiences have enabled me to support clients from a wide range of backgrounds while deepening my appreciation for the uniqueness of each person’s story.

Outside of the therapy room, I’m a spouse, parent, advocate, and host of The Dapper Mindset Podcast, where I explore mental health, relationships, identity, personal growth, and the conversations we don’t always have enough space for in everyday life. These roles continue to shape my perspective and remind me daily of the importance of connection, vulnerability, and community.

As a therapist, I strive to bring authenticity, curiosity, compassion, and often a little humor into the therapy room. I believe therapy should be collaborative, not something that happens to you, but something we work through together.

I hope to see you soon!

Supporting You Every Step of the Way

At The Counseling Studio, we’re redefining therapy by moving beyond the traditional clinical experience and creating a space where clients feel genuinely seen, heard, and understood. Through authentic relationships, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based practices, we help individuals, couples, and families heal, grow, and build lives that align with who they truly are.
